A Natural High

I did not think I could get through a Christmas season without drinking or enjoy my birthday or get through difficult times. Yet I can and I did. We drink, take drugs or eat food to change the way we feel yet there are other ways.  Here are 10 ways to change the way you feel and get a natural high.

  1. Meditate. It may not be something you feel confident in doing yet. Full disclosure I’m still figuring it out but millions of people can’t be wrong. There are lots of places you can do it inexpensively and you can even find online programs for free.
  2. Do something scary! something you have never done before, ski, skydive, jet ski, something exhilarating.
  1. Virtual reality, if you have a smartphone you can get an inexpensive headset and download a free app. It is a really cool way to transport yourself to a different world.
  1. Go to the movies. When was the last time you watched a movie the whole way through without distractions?
  2. Take a hot bubble bath or one of my favorites Epsom salts with essential oils while doing number
  3.  Go outside and breathe in some fresh air, yes even if it’s cold. As long as you have the right clothes it can still be an           exhilarating experience.
  4. Binge watch a series on TV. That one you never got around to, you know the one!
  1. Read some fiction. Transporting ourselves to another world is a perfect escape.
  1. Declutter. What a perfect time of year to get rid of stuff you no longer need or use. There may be someone out there who could make better use of it.
  1. Bake something! There is a reason that baking shows are popular. Creating something and then eating it is one of life’s simplest and rewarding pleasures and anyone can do it by following a recipe.
